Pivot FAQ

  • When is camp this year (2022)?

    June 26 – July 1

  • What is the cost of the camp?

    $540 per camper

  • Are there scholarships/camperships available?

Yes, please shoot us an email at [email protected] if you are interested as soon as possible.

  • Should I be concerned that this camp is coed?

No. Girls sleep in an all-girls cabin separate from the all-boys cabin. There are female staff who attend to the girl’s cabins and male staff who attend to the boy’s cabins.

  • What COVID-19 precautions are being taken?

Upon arrival, coaches will collect a “Participant Health Screening & Waiver” form for each camper. These forms will be kept confidential and reviewed only by the directors, site host, and West River Administrators. If anyone indicates any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 they must immediately leave the site and the group leader must immediately notify the site host.

Camp directors will check in with each camper every morning to monitor for changes in health. If any camper develops any of the signs of symptoms of COVID-19 they will immediately be isolated from the group to a designated quarantine area on-site and return home as soon as possible. The group leader must also notify the site host of any changes in camper health. Any care of the ill person will be provided only by someone wearing personal protective gear including: N95 mask, gloves, face shield, and gown.

All common spaces and bathrooms accessible to more than one group will be cleaned three times per day and between assigned group usage. Cleaning records will be viewable in each building. Directors and coaches will be using disinfectants for additional cleanings of high-touch surfaces within our facility. Meal service will be altered to provide sufficient physical distancing between participants and groups (spacing or eating in shifts) or served in our meeting spaces. The dining hall will be cleaned and disinfected between each meal service.

Site activities such as high ropes, boating, archery, etc. will follow COVID-19 operational and cleaning guidelines developed by the corresponding industry leaders/associations.

  • Can my child have his/her phone at camp?

Campers will not be allowed to use any devices while they are at camp. If there is an emergency, Camp Directors will contact parents/guardians with any concerns. Camp Directors are also available around the clock if parents need to be in contact with their child for any reason. We want to limit the possibility of stolen devices and want to enhance the quality of the camp experience by having campers engage with one another and the campus without interference from screens.

  • Is there a nurse available?

A nurse/trainer will be available 24 hours a day at West River Retreat Center.

  • What do I need to bring?

Students should bring the following items with them to camp.

      • Basketball Shoes
      • Plenty of t-shirts, shorts, socks, and underwear
      • A light jacket or sweatshirt is advisable
      • Comfort Shoes (flip flops/sandals/etc)
      • Bath Towels

      • Sheets for a single bed (XL Twin)
      • A pillow
      • Blanket/sleeping bag
      • Container of Clorox (or equivalent) wipes. (In the event to promote good hygiene and help to stop the spread of germs we are asking families to send their child with wipes for them to wipe down their dorm room door handle and rooms daily. This is not mandatory but just a request.)
      • Personal hand sanitizer (We will have sanitizing stations throughout camp but would love to see campers have some on them as well to use)
